DEEP DIVE | Connecting Quality + Knowledge Management at DPS

DPS launched Synthesis as their knowledge management platform in October 2019. It addressed many firmwide needs: connecting their offices, making information findable, and creating a space for new knowledge to live. As employees shifted to working remotely, then hybrid, Synthesis became even more important to business operations.

During this time, DPS was also in final development stages of their Quality Management System (QMS). The QMS includes procedures, responsibilities, and resources for making quality a basic business principal throughout the project delivery process. The impact of the QMS starts in business development and goes all the way through construction.

In 2024 these two efforts came together when Tim Veltkamp, Director of Quality Management and Gregor Wells, Director of IT joined forces to revamp DPS’s intranet as part of their transition to Synthesis 6.

Tim Veltkamp, Director of Quality Management
Tim is a Colorado Registered Architect with over 35 years of experience in the A/E industry. He is a strong communicator with a firm understanding of technical design, project documentation, and administering projects from design development through construction. He has led large commercial, healthcare, and education projects involving complex teams and aggressive schedules. With this background, Tim now serves as Director of Quality Management and provides strategic direction for improving firmwide quality standards and best practices.

Gregor Wells, Director of Information Technology
Gregor has led the IT department at DPS ever since there was an IT Department at DPS. As the Director of IT, he strives to provide strategic vision, leadership, and creative solutions to all staff to best enhance productivity, collaboration, and overall success of the firm. He takes pride in running a responsive and friendly department which approaches technological challenges with a balance of innovation, creativity, and cost-effectiveness. His areas of expertise include cybersecurity, end-user awareness and training, planning, and general IT support.
