Benefits @ NEI

July 3, 2023 Coe Hoeksema

About

NEI’s benefits center uses a smart navigation block to automatically display the pages underneath it in the content outliner, creating a centralized landing page for all of the firm’s benefits. Individual benefit pages use a variety of block types in the two column page layout to make complex information easily accessible to employees. Pages with information that extends below the visible window include a table of contents block for a quick overview of the content. Benefits with multiple plans are broken up into sections using horizontal lines.

What’s Included

Smart Navigation Block

The smart navigation block on the landing page uses the compact grid layout to display the title of each page with an image from the built-in stock icon library.

Basic Navigation Block

Basic navigation blocks can include both links to external sites and Synthesis resources. NEI is using a combination of uploaded image files and built-in stock icons for the resource thumbnails.

Employee Block

The employee block always appears in the right hand column so you know whom to contact with questions or concerns, even if you arrived at the page directly through search.

Basic Document Block

Relevant documents are available in the right hand column with preview thumbnails. These documents were uploaded directly to basic document blocks.

Video Block

Users can view or download the Benefits Presentation recording directly from the video block on the Benefits Enrollment page.

Single Image Block

Certain content from the comprehensive benefits PDF was repeated on the benefit pages as images. The single image block was also used for screenshots in step-by-step instructions.

Table of Contents Block

Pages with information that extends below the visible window include a table of contents block in the right column for a quick scan of the page content, as well as a way to jump directly to a specific section. The table of contents block populates automatically by picking up text with the heading style(s) applied.

Horizontal Lines

Horizontal lines are a great way to create visual separation between different categories of information, such as multiple plan types on a single page. These horizontal lines have been set to appear as yellow in the site’s branding settings.

Table Block

Table Blocks—with the option to color alternating rows enabled—display employee contribution rates.
